The most games Included with the thing wasn’t playable – the many games didn’t react to the controller others working but wasn’t sure that they were finished product – nonsense or plainly stupid. Overall not enjoyable experience – I send it back and refund was issued by Amazon without any problems.

It works fine.

Loved the fact that they have retained the look and feel of the games ,only thing that disappoints is the lack of simple instructions for us golden oldies.

So on the surface this is a nice device. It looks very well made and is nice and small so it’s easy to hide away. It’s also easy to use with all the games already pre-loaded onto the device.Under the hood is where this thing suffers. It’s basically an Android device running an anemic RK3066 chip and next to no ram so while it’s okay for running these kind of lightweight games it does struggle a bit. There is no option to add your own roms to this device or to use alternative controllers so you are strictly stuck with the 110 “Atari Games” that are pre-loaded.For the price there are far superior devices out there that will allow you to connect to a TV, connect alternative controllers and play a lot more systems and games. It’s just not great value. Unless you’re really into your Atari then I’d skip this one.

Lots of nostalgia to be had here with this little AtariFlashback console.Complete with two joysticks and power adapter (doesn’t come with HDMI cable)Plug the joystick into player one to be able to use the red buttons on the front to start and select games ect.Of the games I tested they all seemed to work perfectly fine and brought back some childhood memories 😀The joysticks seem to respond well and going off the manual if you own the original paddles you can use them for the games that support the paddle controllers. The size of the console is around the same size as the Nes/SNES mini and Playstation 1 classic so doesn’t take up much space. While this is not going to replace your current gen console or gaming PC it is fun to go back and see how much games and technology has improved so much over the years and these little retro consoles are great fun to play with you friends, partner or kids 😃.Priced at £74.99 this is around the price you would expect to pay for one of these little retro consoles and I would say is a fair price.Overall a great collector’s item to have in my game room next to my other retro mini consoles and a good blast from the past trip down memory lan.Would I recommend? What I’ve seen and used of it so far yes I would😁👍
Objective Reviewer –
I received an Atari Flashback 12 (model AR3070B) as a Christmas gift, and the excitement died as soon as I wired it up to the TV. Issues I discovered in the 20 minutes I used the device:- Input handling is horrible: button presses and joystick movements often go undetected, but at other times a single button press is detected as 2-5 separate ones in rapid succession.- Display corruption: sprites go missing randomly, parts of the display blink in either black or a random colour, and then the game’s graphics do not reappear for a second.- Poor performance: I never thought I would see the original Atari Breakout lag, especially not on an official Atari-branded console. This version, unlike the Atari Flashback 2, uses emulation to run the games, but it must have a really cheap SoC and poorly engineered software, as it has trouble running games made for a 48-year-old CPU.- Missing accessory: the manual references a special cable required to install games onto the system from a USB drive, but it’s not included in the box.I’ve tried updating the firmware on the console as documented in its manual in hopes it would resolve the problems, but I run into other oddities:- This model (AR3070B) cannot be found on the manufacturer’s main website as of 24/12/2023.- It’s also missing from the firmware download portal, meaning that there’s currently no way to remedy any of the issues listed above.- Firmware download requires registration, and updating the console with a newer official firmware is done at the end user’s own risk.Currently this console is listed for £86.95. For that price, even if it was running the games properly, it’s disappointing to see a poorly painted plastic panel instead of a real wood inlay on its front. To save disappointment, do not buy this. I’m returning mine.
